Everybody, meet Lights

Two nights ago, I had one of them good dreams.

I was walking down the steps from my unit when on the floor, by the drainpipes, there was a note left for me with 3 superbly cute kittens. The note read: "A gift for you."

The first kitten was entirely black, the second I do not remember, but the other was grey and had brown patches all over it. I remembered it clearest, because in between the kitty's eyes was a bold orange patch in contrast with its grey coat.

As you all would know, I've been talking about wanting a kitty for ages. I was more than overjoyed, even if it were a dream.

I woke up all excited telling Jian about it.

Last night, while I was out with my colleagues, I had a text from Rachel.

"Hey, do you want a kitten! My brother found 2 but his gf can only keep 1."

I replied: "OMG YES!!!!! OMG I DO!!!!!"

Her brother delivered the kitty to our house. It wasn't till two hours later that I finally got to lay eyes on my gorgeous pet.

I recognised it immediately.

I can't explain it but, indeed. This truly is the kitten from my dream.

I am missing it so much at work! :(

A work-related post

So, the other day. I was standing up on a chair, trying to adjust the height of a poster, when I knocked over a container of tiny pebbles upon climbing on top of the chair.

Young Boy walks into the room at precisely that moment to say: "Gah! You clumsily knocked over all these pebbles!" To which I replied, "Yeah, hey, help me out please? Thanks!"

He proceeded to do what I requested of him and picked up the mess.

Just as I'm done with adjustments of the poster, I look down from the chair to see him catching my up-skirt.

I quickly stepped off the chair and contemplated if I should say anything to him at all. He glanced away, nervously changing the topic to something about Nerf Guns.

I couldn't help but be transported back to scenes of yesteryears, of how terribly embarrassing situations like this was for me with cheeky school boys, when I was still in primary school.

I related the story to Jian after work.

"You should have said something to him!"
"But, I felt so awkward!"
"He's just curious."
"I can't believe a little boy like him could stiffen me up like this."
"Well, why didn't you tell him how you felt then?"
"What was I to say??"
"Tell him he shouldn't be catching your up-skirt and that it isn't right," he paused.
"After all, you know, he looks up to you. Literally... Ha-ha!"

He thinks he's a comedian now.

Miraculous ways and byways

In near helplessness and desperation, this quote gave me comfort -

"Never be afraid to try something new.
Remember that a lone amateur built the Ark.
A large group of professionals built the Titanic."

Illustration Friday

Second time participating in IF! This week's theme's LAYER. Initially, I thought about cake, but thought that that was kinda anticipated. I thought of winter clothes too. Decided to rule that out after trawling through submissions, as quite a few participants were already on the same train of thought. I then thought long and hard, for surely! There must be more to layering than just cakes and clothes! I then had another brainwave about stacking triangles together and forming pyramids. I asked Jian: "Hey, if I gave you a theme of 'layers' what would you draw?" "A deck of cards fanning out?" "Interesting.."

That's when I combined the two thoughts together to come up with card pyramids :)
Papi's always my muse, xx.

Hairy says: "Bye-bye!"

Hairy Sam departed for Christchurch last night. I'm glad to see her go. Though, not in a "good riddance!" sort of way, but rather more of a "it's about time" kind of way. I hope by this she'd gain perspective, grow; yet essentially, still keep the very core that makes her, her.

So, here's an All the best.
May you be courageous when faced with alien encounters.

Feline of my dreams

Our friend, The Indie Cat, has graciously lent us, photographic-noobs, his Nikon D70. Since then, we've been trigger happy, learning how to work the camera. Still feeling my way around this, here are some photos I took today:

This is Feral. Like the name suggests, our neighbourhood's feral cat. It has a fantastical breezy personality about it (not at all manja either!). Feral loves sitting on Jian, much to his dismay. It's not the first time it's done this. I wish it'd come sit on my lap instead! I love it and want to smuggle it home! I would too, if my other neighbours weren't terribly in love with it as well.
